Yingbo's parents have arrived home safely in Changchun.

John, dean of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, said that Yingbo's masters degree will be granted in May 2010.

Update on Yingbo's memorial service:

The memorial service went very well on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009. The Twin City Bible Church in Urbana was filled (about 400 seats) and lots of people said that the service was moving and beautiful. Two Chinese consuls attended the event. Yingbo's parents said that the service met their expectations and it was perfect and decent. John, Dean of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at UIUC, opened his house for reception after the service and the parents felt so honored about it.

Chancellor Bob Easter met the parents on Friday afternoon for 15 minutes and gave them a gift. He also said they are part of UI family…

Yingbo's parents said that they will come back to visit Yingbo’s grave and witness the graduation ceremony (as they originally planned to come for Yingbo) next May.

The parents donated $79.35 they found in Yingbo’s purse to the Yingbo’s Memorial Fund. They also decided to give the donations raised at the memorial service (over $4,000) to John to cover their travel costs in order to share GSLIS burden in helping them. They are great and caring Chinese parents, who always think of others ahead of themselves. We admire them so much!

The body of dearest Yingbo was cremated on Tuesday morning December 1, 2009 at one of the funeral homes in Champaign. http://www.heathandvaughn.com/

Close family members, teachers and friends attended the event.

That day was a very sunshine day! Sunlight came through windows and made the room even brighter! Yingbo became a beautiful angel flying around. She will be with us forever and whenever we'd want to see her!

Yingbo's memorial service will be held on this coming Saturday, December 5th, at 5:30 p.m., at the Twin City Bible Church where Yingbo used to study the Bible.
